SUMMARY:Working With Couples: Foundations of Couple Therapy Practice
DESCRIPTION:The workshop will help you apply your existing clinical skills 
 in a couple therapy context. It does not teach a specific model of therapy
  but looks at common issues that arise when relationship problems present.
   Such as:\n\n 	staying in charge of process and structure\; keeping you 
 and your clients safe\n 	why intimate relationships get harder to do over 
 time and what to do about it\n 	how clients protect themselves out of a re
 lationship and what they can do instead\n 	starting therapy with impact to
  maximise your credibility and your client’s hope\n 	avoiding common tra
 ps re confidentiality and getting off-side with one partner\n 	how to prev
 ent and de-escalate unproductive conflict\n 	using a systemic\, non-blamin
 g conceptualisation in practice with couples\n 	how to empathically confro
 nt\, especially where clients lack self-awareness\n 	addressing sexual iss
 ues as a normal part of adult intimate relationship\n 	working across cult
 ures and power differences &amp\; much more\n\nThis workshop is intended f
 or all practitioners regardless of how much or little training you have ha
 d in working with couples.  Perhaps you are quite experienced in working 
 with couples but are always looking for a fresh perspective. Maybe you hav
 e had some training in a couple's therapy model\, but are lacking confiden
 ce in actually working with them. Wherever you are coming from about worki
