DESCRIPTION:Working with couples requires specialist skills.  Even experie
 nced therapists can feel at sea when trying to meet the needs of two clien
 ts simultaneously\, let alone when they are in conflict!\n\nThis two-day w
 orkshop will help you apply your existing clinical skills in a couple ther
 apy context. It does not teach a specific model of therapy (although it do
 es introduce you to the Stages of the Developmental Model) but looks at co
 mmon issues that arise when a couple bring relationship difficulties to yo
 ur practice.\n\nIn this training you will learn how to:\n\n 	stay in charg
 e of process and structure\; keeping you and your clients safe\n 	why inti
 mate relationships get harder to do over time and what to do about it\n 	h
 ow clients protect themselves out of a relationship and what they can do i
 nstead\n 	how to begin therapy with impact to maximise your credibility an
 d your client’s hope\n 	avoid common traps regarding confidentiality and
  getting off-side with one partner\n 	how to prevent and de-escalate unpro
 ductive conflict\n 	the use of a systemic\, non-blaming conceptualization 
 in practice with couples\n 	how to empathically confront\, especially wher
 e clients lack self-awareness\n 	how to address sexual issues as a normal 
 part of adult intimate relationship\n 	keys to working across cultures and
  power differences\n 	&amp\; much more!\n\nThis workshop is intended for a
 ll practitioners regardless of how much or little training they have had i
 n working with couples.  Perhaps you are quite experienced in working wit
 h couples but are always looking for a fresh perspective. Maybe you have h
 ad some training in a couple's therapy model\, but are lacking confidence 
 in actually working with them.  Perhaps you are considering moving into c
 ouples' work and want a sound grounding.  Wherever you are coming from\, 
 this workshop will be of value to your practice.\n\nThis is a stand-alone 
 training\, requiring no previous couple therapy experience or training.\nC
 ompletion of this training (or equivalent) is a prerequisite for enrolling
  in the "Core Skills &amp\; Theory of the Developmental Model" training.\n
