DESCRIPTION:Lots of us feel understandable anxiety about inviting the raw e
 motion of a distressed couple into our therapy room.  A primary aim of th
 is workshop is to increase your confidence in working with couples.  Root
 ed in Nic’s 25 years of specialist practice with couples and families\, 
 this course will give you insight into what really works and what doesn’
 t!\n\nThe workshop will help you apply your existing skills in a couple th
 erapy context. It does not teach a specific model of therapy but looks at 
 common issues that arise when relationship problems present.  Such as:\n\
 n 	staying in charge of process and structure\; keeping you and your clien
 ts safe\n 	why intimate relationships get harder to do over time and what 
 to do about it\n 	how clients protect themselves out of relationship and w
 hat they can do instead\n 	starting therapy with impact to maximise your c
 redibility and your client’s hope\n 	avoiding common traps re confidenti
 ality and getting off-side with one partner\n 	how to prevent and de-escal
 ate unproductive conflict\n 	using a systemic\, non-blaming conceptualisat
 ion in practice with couples\n 	how to empathically confront\, especially 
 where clients lack self-awareness\n 	addressing sexual issues as a normal 
 part of adult intimate relationship\n 	working across cultures and power d
 ifferences &amp\; much more\n\nThis workshop is intended for all practitio
 ners regardless of how much or little training you have had in working wit
 h couples.  Perhaps you are quite experienced in working with couples but
  are always looking for a fresh perspective. Maybe you have had some train
 ing in a couple's therapy model\, but are lacking confidence in actually w
 orking with them. Wherever you are coming from about working with couples
